Betta Daze (2013)   Size: 5" w x 5" h x 3-1/2" d Medium and Materials: Collage and mixed media. Encaustic paint, tempera paint, oil pastels on cradled wood panel.   This is one of the first paintings I made incorporating tempera paint into my encaustic work. I fell in love with the textures and delicate tracery of colour I was able to lay down.   This is the painting which led me to delve into creating deeper connections between environmental issues and my art. You can see this come through in later works such as my current series, Arctic Flow .

OverFlow (2013) SIze: 5" w x 5" h x 3-1/2" d Medium and Materials: Collage and encaustic paint on cradled wood panel This collage was inspired by the brilliant swirls of paint as they flowed across the surface. Initially I wanted to call this painting, You are Here , and add more collage elements like a map pin, etc. I decided to keep it simple instead.
